Kampfires Campground – Dummerston, VT

Passport America campground-nice open grassy spots.
Took drive around area, found a beautiful lake with a gorgeous home on the lake. The owner, an interesting man, gave us an education on how to make maple syrup. Bought some of his syrup, best we’ve ever had.
In honor of our granddaughter’s upcoming bowling birthday party we decided we would go bowling since we couldn’t be in California with her. Didn’t realize how out of shape we were and how many muscles you use in bowling, we were sore for days after.

September 9th and 10th, 2017

KOA Copake, New York

Typical KOA campground, nice facility, huge grassy spaces but a bit pricey.

Relaxed and watched some Husker football.
Took a hike up to a little beautiful waterfall. About ¾ mile up hill hike……hard getting up but worth the view and easier walk back down.

September 5th and 6th, 2017

Assateague Island National Seashore

“The Wild Horse Island”

We were a little afraid to try it (no hookups) but we did fine “Boondocking”. The generator worked fine and the batteries held power well.

The island was beautiful (lots of bugs) and the wild horses are all over the island. We had a group that spent time near and in our campsite, so cool.

One night while taking Jake out for a pee we were surprised by a male horse right next to the trailer. It was so dark we didn’t see him when we first went out but once he moved and made his presence known he scared the heck out of us.

Lots of marsh areas with several different types of birds, beautiful island.
