Effie's New Look

We came to Ensenada in May 07 to build a hard dodger and we're still here. In December while we were in the states visiting, Effie got damaged during a high surge......hence the reason we're still here. So Effie's damage is fixed and we're working on more boat projects and will be leaving Ensenada in October to head back south. Plan is to be in Nicaragra by April 2009.

We've been staying at our friend's Sandy & Peter's beautiful beach house and working hard on getting Effie back up and running.

So here's what we've been up to:

New Hard Dodger w/ total screen & strataglass enclosures, new dinghy davits, new glass (plastic) for windows and hatches, new counter tops, new curtains aft cabin, new dinghy chaps (cover), new riding sail, lots of general maintenace, lots of varnishing, and of course, lots of love.

Here's a pictorial: Let the hard dodger be born........

Time to make the top........ Where to start?----How about a frame............ then make a base of insalation form. Then it's time to put on the fiberglass. Looks like everyone got into the act. Before fiberglassing the underneath side we had to figure out where all the lights and "princess" fans would be installed.

The windows came in from Canada so time to take a break from the top and install the windows.

Windows in so time to paint the top....

Then the exciting process of getting the top to the boat!

So we figured out how to get it to the boat but how do we get it from the van out on the dock???? A little help from friends, of course!

Now it was time to make the enclosures....we made a complete screen enclosure and also one with strataglass.

Time to put Effie in a little safer marina, Cruiseport, and get started on all the other projects!

Loved learning about your adventures in picture!

My two favorites are transporting the top tied to the van and the seal on the dock next to Effie.

You both have worked very hard and deserve a fantastic cruise!

Fair winds & safe harbors,

Rick & Lynn, & Tigger, too!
